Despeckling Sar Images Using Wavelets and a New Class of Adaptive Shrinkage Estimators

چکیده
We propose in this paper an efficient and fast wavelet based technique for speckle removal from SAR images. It relies on realistic distributions of the wavelet coefficients which represent mainly speckle noise at one hand and those that represent the useful signal corrupted by speckle at the other. We propose analytic models for these distributions, and the automatic computation of their parameters directly from a given SAR image. The resulting algorithm greatly suppresses speckle, while preserving image details and its sharpness.

Neural shrinkage for wavelet-based SAR despeckling
wavelet shrinkage denoising approach is able to maintain local regularity of a signal while suppressing noise. However, the conventional wavelet shrinkage based methods are not timescale adaptive to track the local timescale variation. In this paper, a new type of Neural Shrinkage (NS) is presented with a new class of shrinkage architecture for speckle reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR...
متن کاملExtended ratio edge detector for despeckled SAR image evaluation
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images due to the usage of coherent imaging systems are affected by speckle. So lots of despeckling filters have been introduced up to now to suppress the speckle. Hence, objective and subjective evaluation of the denoised SAR images becomes a necessity. Thereby lots of objective evaluating estimators are introduced to evaluate the performance of despeckling filte...
متن کاملImage Despeckling Based on LMMSE Wavelet Shrinkage
A low complexity method for suppressing speckle in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is proposed. This method doesn’t require the logarithmic transform and is an extension of the linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) filter to the image wavelet representation. A spatially adaptive shrinkage function is obtained and each modified coefficient is decided separately. Simulation results for t...
متن کاملSAR Image Despeckling via Bivariate Shrinkage Based on Directionlet Transform
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are inherently affected by multiplicative speckle noise, which is due to the coherent nature of the scattering phenomenon. A novel and efficient SAR image despeckling algorithm based on Directionlet transform using bivariate shrinkage is proposed to remove speckle noise while preserving the structural features and textural information of the scene. First, a...
متن کاملKalman's shrinkage for wavelet-based despeckling of SAR images
this paper, a new probability density function (pdf) is proposed to model the statistics of wavelet coefficients, and a simple Kalman's filter is derived from the new pdf using Bayesian estimation theory. Specifically, we decompose the speckled image into wavelet subbands, we apply the Kalman's filter to the high subbands, and reconstruct a despeckled image from the modified detail coefficients...
